Scott's Fresh Lime Margarita

My husband, Scott is the margarita master in our house! We like to serve margaritas at all our summer gatherings but we don’t like the sugar that comes with typical margarita mix. Instead, Scott came up with his own version that is simple and clean. All of our friends and family love this recipe including my 22-year-old son!

We use Código 1530 Tequila, a brand our friends launched a few years ago. It comes from a family heirloom recipe derived from a small distillery in Mexico that has been passed down for generations. Código uses only the finest ingredients in their production process which makes for a smooth and clean final product. It is quite selective but the small difference in price is worth it if you’re going to splurge on a margarita!

Scott’s recipe is easy and only includes four ingredients. I love that when I’m at a restaurant, I can recreate this clean version with a simple request to the bartender. Remember to ask for Código 1530 Tequila!

Ingredients

  • Juice of two fresh limes

  • ½ c Cointreau (substitute Grand Marnier)

  • 1 c Tequila

  • Sparkling water

  • Sea salt and cut lime for garnish

Instructions

Prepare four glasses with ice and a salted rim. Combine the lime juice, Cointreau and tequila, mix well. Pour into each glass, divided equally. Add sparkling water to the rim and mix. Be sure and use a cut lime for garnish. Enjoy! Serves 4.
