Traditions are important in our house and Christmas is no exception! We always try to remember the reason for the season of love. It is certainly worth reflecting on our many blessings of faith, family and friends. The holiday season is full of different traditions. They bond us together and give us a sense of belonging. We think it is worth celebrating with, among other things, a traditional Christmas dinner, a feast celebrating family. Food is a way to nurture our loved ones. The dinner table is a great place to make memories. Each year, for our traditional Christmas dinner, I like to serve up an extra elegant prime rib roast with popovers. This is a favorite in our house come Christmastime!
I only indulge in red meat once a year for this meal, so it has to be perfect. I’m sharing a guide to cooking the perfect prime rib. It may seem intimidating, but it is really not hard, as long as you use a meat thermometer. It’s always a crowd-pleaser, especially when served with my healthy horseradish sauce. Popovers are such a treat to have on this holiday. They haven’t been in the cards for us gluten-free devotees, but now I’m providing a recipe that works! I also insert some of my Italian heritage with some fabulous Arancini risotto balls! Chocolate cake is a must have for a Christmas dessert, and my quinoa chocolate cake satisfies everyone. You’re going to love what the frosting is made out of – we just won’t tell everyone how healthy it is! Start this dinner with my Abe and Louie’s salad or my green angel salad and you’ve got yourself a feast.
May your holiday season, whatever you celebrate, be filled with family, friends and special traditions. Nothing would make me happier than if some of my recipes play a part in establishing these traditions!
